Checked luggage versus carry-on

Monday, May 21, 2012 I had problems with preboarding United Airlines flight 1154 (from LAX), because I had 1 carry-on. Apparently, after paying for and checking in my suitcase, I was misfortunate enough to be part of Boarding Group 7. They announced that anyone in Group 7 would have to check their carry-on. When I said I wasn't willing to do that, I was told I would have to take my chances of being kicked off the flight. I understand people are now taking as much carryon luggage as possible to avoid check in fees, but after paying for my ticket and suitcase, I should not be penalized for having just 1 carryon. I believe you should charge an additional $10 per ticket, per person and check all luggage at no cost so this unfair practice does not continue.

it seems people these days take everything from their home with them doesnt it?! I was in the final boarding group on a delta flight a few weeks ago (no status with delta) i boarded and there were a few spots left. i took my chances and was lucky. i dont agree with all bags should be checked. when i travel for personal reasons, i usually always check my bags...easier and dont have to worry about bin space, however for work, im not even allowed to check my luggage...company policy
