AA at DFW Ruins my Day Again!

I was a standby passenger today on Flight 3432 going from DFW to Shreveport. First, the woman at the ticket counter walked right past me and helped the people behind me in line to check in their bags. They were not Advantage members or First Class. They walked up after I did.

Second, she was rude to me about my bag. I was late to the gate because I had been doing some other traveling. I understand that I cannot travel on an earlier flight than my bag does, and I wanted to make arrangements to get another flight. But, before I could get my words out, she snapped at me and told me that under no circumstances would she allow me to fly without my bag and I could just forget it!

Then, I was held up at security. When I got to the gate, it was 10 mins before push, and the flight had already closed. Yes, I know I was late and I missed the flight. I own that. The gate agent at B17 asked me what happened, and I told her. To my surprise, she told me that it was MY PROBLEM, and she was NOT going to reopen the flight for a standby passenger.

I am an employee of another airline, and 90% of the time I get rude employees and harsh treatment at DFW with American Airlines. The flight attendants are remarkably better than the ticket and gate agents. When their employees fly my airline, I do my best to treat them with respect and courtesy, and I wish that I would get the same when I fly with them.

Just my 2 cents...

With regard to the standby order, passengers who had their flight cancelled, or due to a delay missed a connection, have priority. You can't possibly know everyones story, so it's best to rely on the fact that the computer generates the standby list and that's that. It's not the gate agent doing something wrong.

The poster is not disputing boarding priority or non revenue status. The poster is complaining about rude treatment from ground personnel.

As an airline employee, I would think you should know that all bags are scanned before they get on an aircraft and bags no longer have to fly with the passenger revenue or standby......so you should have been able to check your bag in for a later flight while you got on an earlierr flight.
