THE WORST AIRLINE THAT EXISTS!!! My friend and I was aboard of AA airlines frying from JFK to LAX. I was in business class and my gf in economy. After the seat belt sign was eliminated, i went to visit my gf in economy. We chatted and took couple of pictures and a video. While taking a video, the flight attendant came up to me and very rudely told me to go back to my seat and that I can't go back to economy under any circumstances. My phone camera was on during this conversation. Next thing I know, air marshal approaches me at my seat, takes my phone and removes he video without even looking at it. After that, I was denied any food or water for the remainder of the flight. I and my gf were also escorted by FBI from the plane in LA. They questioned us for an hour about some nonsense and let us go. One of the police guys said that we should take it legally with American Airlines for what they did to us over nothing. THE BOTTOM LINE: IF YOU WANT TO PAY $2000 FOR THE BUSINESS CLASS SEAT AND GET DENIED SNACKS AND WATER, FLY AA.

Guarantee you there is WAAAYYYY more to this story than stated above.

That is the problem! Nothing else to the story! Just crappy service with frustrated flight attendants that were having a bad day or realized that they are in the wrong business too late...

If an air marshall got involved, you've only told us about 10% of the story and doctored it to make you look good.

Additional: In fact, you probably recorded someone you shouldn't have, like the Air Marshal or someone they were interested in, which is why your video was confiscated.

Pretty common LONG TIME rule that passengers need to stay in their assigned sections.

I recorded the conversation between myself and the flight attendant. She was not even in the video, just the voice. I would not be so outraged if that happened over something but it was over nothing.

It's illegal to record a conversion on private property without the consent of all parties being recorded.

If that is the law in the US that is ridiculous. An aircraft is a public accommodation and people have no reasonable expectation of privacy in a public place. Why would any airline employee have an objection to being filmed or taped in a public place..it is designed to protect them from being exposed as the unprofessional liars they are.

Each state's laws differ. Some need both parties to consent to being voice recorded, some don't. As far as video with no image, voice only, I'm not sure. I'm not a lawyer. Maybe our man Cicero, who is probably still around, could answer that.

If you ask for money from people to enter your home, does that make it a public accommodation? No, it does not. Aircraft are privately owned.

And in this case, an air marshal got involved. To me that says the OP went WAY beyond what he claims. Air Marshals have to stay undercover unless something serious comes up.

i would expect that people wouldn't come on my private property and tape me without asking my permission

even if the FA's were doing the best job ever, they shouldnt have to worry about being recorded, and unless the plane is operated by the state it is private property not exactly a public place

Gromit... some of your analogies leave me speechless! The paying someone to come into your home....it's bonkers and irrelevant.

Airlines provide public transport...by your examples people would not be able to film at Disneyland, on a cruise ship, etc... the standard should be where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy. On a bus, train, plane or ship in the public areas, I don't think anyone has a right to expect privacy....the reason they don't want you filming is they don't want to get caught behaving badly.

Prince Harry in Vegas... naked pictures taken in the swimming pool... legitimate...no expectation of privacy...what happens in Vegas doesn't necessarily stay in Vegas...

Prince Harry in Vegas... naked pictures taken in his private suite... not legitimate.. has a reasonable expectation of privacy... what happens in his Vegas suite, should stay in his Vegas suite.
