Abandoned in Ontario

Flight 574 on October 15 from Portland to San Diego was diverted to Ontario due to fog in San Diego. Alaska announced that busses would be provided for transportation to San Diego. After waiting for over an hour, our luggage was taken off the plane and then we were told that the announcement was a mistake and that there would be no busses or other assistance and that we were on our own. I emailed cutomer service and recieved an email offering a $100 discount on a future flight, but no explanation about why transportation was not offered, nor was I offered the $20 or 1,000 miles advertised for luggage taking over 20 minuted to be off loaded. At the same time, an Alaska partner, Delta was bussing their passengers to San Diego and United was providing hotels for their passengers.

How did you get from Ontario to San Diego? Submit the receipt with a letter to Alaska Airline's customer relations dept. for reibursment.

Your airline ticket is a contract. By purchasing a ticket you made a contract with Alaska Airlines to fly you to San Diego. While airlines "contract of carriage" always state that they are not obligated to get you there at any particular time, it never states that they can fly you anywhere and simply deposit you at a different location. If they refuse to reimburse you, take them to small claims court for breach of contract.
