How to receive compensation for overbooked flight
How does one receive financial compensation from Air Canada after being bumped off an overbooked flight?
My husband waited over 8 hours at the airport today as Air Canada had bumped him off a flight they had overbooked. We had purchased the flight directly through Air Canada and paid for it in December. Not knowing what GTE meant on his seat assignment, he went to the airport early and was told he had no seat. He waited to see if there were any extra seats and when there were none he was shuffled to another long line and eventually was assigned a seat on a flight which left 8 hours later. There should be some sort of compensation as this is terrible business practice and should not be allowed. What is our best recourse?
