American Airlines and Iberia: new scheme for getting money from passengers?
Hi, maybe you guys can help me out:
I had bought a round ticket to travel Iberia, which allows 2 pieces of luggage. When coming back, I found out that the trip would be operated by American Airlines instead of Iberia. Amerian Airlines allows only 1 piece of luggage and because of that I had to pay for extra luggage! I felt like being conned. I buy something for fixed rules (2 pieces of luggage) and when I get there, it's something different (only 1 piece of luggage) and I have to pay extra. There's nothing one can do when in the airport going back with their luggage. :( The attendant said I could try to claim for a refund when back home. I haven't been able to do that. I suppose I should complain with Iberia, but their page won't let me post my complaint: it says the 'status' field should not be left blank, but there is no 'status' field (I tried different browsers, ctrl+f, asked other people to feel the form for me... nothing). Any advices? Thanks in advance for your attention, Elaine Hayashi |
This is going to come down to the Terms and Conditions... It is a ridiculous anomaly that there is such a variation in the product offered within alliances. If your confirmation email specifies two pieces you will almost certainly prevail in small claims unless there is a prominent notice advising you on the code share there are different rules. You can complain to the aviation authority in Madrid...
