Air Berlin - Lost luggage
 

Something is going on in Tegel Berlin. We arrived at Göteborg on Friday and we still have not got our luggage back. On the arrival a t Göteborg there were maybe 50 luggages waiting to be sent by car to their owners. The personel at the airport said there are big problems with luggage not arriving from Tegel. They are talking about this in forum . airlines-inform . com / Air_Berlin, in www . facebook . com / TXLlostluggage etc. What is really going on?

Tegel is not capable of handling the capacity it encounters, the new Berlin Brandenburg airport should have opened in 2012 and Tegel would the have been closed, but BBI has been delayed and Tegel suffers from this.

The mess in Berlin crated by the disasterous management of the construction project has resulted in total chaos. The remaining two airports are required by law to close when BER opens, so there has been no significant investment in them for more than a decade. I have experienced this first hand and the airports are a total mess. It is still not clear when the new airport will be safe to open... but could be as late as 2015. It might be better to avoid flying in Berlin altogether and taking the very efficient high speed trains into Berlin from other cities until this mess is sorted.
