Delayed flight/ had to pay for additional flight

My flight from London to Johannesburg was delayed with 4 hours. Scheduled arriving time in JHB would have been 07:00. I had a booked flight on Comair to Cape Town ,scheduled for 10:00. Due to the delay i missed my flight. I however was told by Peter at Heathrow that BA will arrange for a ticket at JHB,so i did not book a flight . upon my LATE arrival at JHB, AND AFTER BEING SEND AROUND FOR AN HOUR,i was told that I must buy my own ticket and then claim back from BA. Needless to say, there were no additional flights available on Monday 21/7/14. I had to arrange for an overnight stay and for a payed booked flight from Lanseria....
I missed out on a days work as well....
NOW, i need to claim for my ticket that I missed the scheduled flight and for the 2nd booked ticket.
Flight BA 55, 20 July 14:London Heathrow to JHB.Sold as AA6445.
How do i go about submitting a claim:
Valid ref inquiry nr received from BA in KHB : 7W7XKQ:mad:

IMPORTANT - Was your whole trip booked on the same ticket i.e. LHR/JNB/CPT.. Or was it two separate booking with two different ticket numbers i.e LHR/JNB on one ticket and JNB/CPT on the other?

If they were SEPARATE individual bookings with DIFFERENT ticket numbers then you have virtually no chance of any recovery from BA as BA delivered you to JNB as agreed (even if a bit late) and their responsibilities end when they got to JNB. In this case you would have to contact COMAIR and request a refund. COMAIR probably counted you as a "no show" when you didn't turn up for the flight and cancelled the ticket. They also cancelled any further flights on the same ticket i.e. the return leg from CPT to JNB.

If they were all on the SAME ticket with the SAME ticket number then BA were responsible to arrange further transport to CPT and they should NOT have left you to arrange it on your own. You will now have to submit a claim DIRECTLY to BA in England.

I suspect its the former.. GOOD LUCK in recovery. PLEASE report back here and tell us how you got on.
