Envoy Air/American Eagle-AA connector missed connection and limited hotel reimburseme
Upon Leaving Aspen, CO on Flight 3271 July 25, 2015, the weather was a nice VFR day with light winds, and temp about 89. The flight had to add an extra stop to refuel, since the density altitude at Aspen is high. As a result, the flight was delayed, and missed our connection when reaching Dallas-Ft. Worth. No gate was available further delaying the flight while the plane sat on the tarmac.
We were told by the attendant the delay was weather related; therefore, not the airlines policy to reimburse for hotel expenses. After a lengthy argument with the attendant the agreed to a small voucher; however would not reimburse the entire hotel expense. Our part owed was approximately $69.00 This was clearly not weather related, but a lack of planning by the airline management, knowing fuel is needed out of Aspen, and by the further delay on the tarmac with no arrival gate available. I therefore believe the airlines owes us the entire hotel expense. |
I'm not a commercial pilot but do hold a PPL and a do believe you may be incorrect.
89F is hot and combined with altitude the aircraft has diminished performance. Since no airline wants a tech stop for fuel because of the cost associated with it, I wouldn't doubt the required the fuel to divert around a weather system. I doubt it was poor planning, this is an airline that flies over 3000 flights a day so I think they have the planning part down to a science. |
and again Burgers misses the point. Flight took off as schedualed, due to poor planing stops for fuel, Late arrival. Not weather related to be warm in summer and airport at high altitude, dude. Both things very very predictable.
