Ripped off with excess charges on our luggage

We booked a flight from Koln Bonn airport via Vienna to Thessaloniki, Greece- ref MQOLGN for two people.
When we arrived at the airport, we checked in our baggage, being 21kgs & 24kg respectively, that is one pice each. We were then informed that we had to pay extra as we had not booked luggage! This amounted
to 75Eu/suitcase.
This on top of the 626Eu paid for the two return
tickets we booked. Nowhere was it apparent that
extra charges apply. If this were so we would have
booked elsewhere!
Now we have a return journey from Thessaloniki to
Cologne, and will have to again pay extra for our luggage??
This has never happened to us with any other flight, it
goes without saying that passengers have
luggage. This is a very bad experience & a first degree rip-off! I emailed the above complaint last week to service@fluege.de, but have had null response! So now what to do?!

Bag charges are done on an each way / segment basis.

Yes, the above still does not explain anything or help me in any way.
So,a thoroughly BAD experience!!
And at the risk of being pedantic, nowhere is it CLEAR that extra charges would apply. This is CONCEALED
in a pull-down at the end of the booking
In my view terms & conditions such as 'Eco Light' or 'Full Economy' etc should be clearly apparent at the beginning of the booking form so that travellers are not rudely surprised at the airport!

Pretty much every airline I know with the exception of SouthWest in the US charges extra for bags. Some give a discount if you pay on line before the airport. But they ALL charge extra for bags. I cant see how you managed to miss it when you booked. Did you book on line?

"This has never happened to us with any other flight" - I'd be interested to know what other airlines you fly with that do NOT charge extra for bags.

"It goes without saying that passengers have luggage" that is absolutely not a true statement. Close to 50% of all passengers have carry on bags only.
