American is not so "American"!
 

Let me try to explain this best I can…My Daughter and family have been based in Germany for 3 yrs. with the Army. They are currently sitting in a military airport waiting to return to the states. The plane is delayed due to military reasons, causing the connecting flight in the states to be missed. Alaska air (owned by American) has assigned seating for military passengers, but in this case, instead of placing them on a direct flight to point of destination; Dad, Mom, and 2 kids have to travel on United with 3 connecting flights and 48 hours in an airport, because Alaska won’t give those seats at “discount military fare”. Yet, Alaska says “if they would like pay an extra $1600 more, they can supply seating”. That tells me, there are open seats on this flight and they can’t give the seats to a military family for the same price they already paid, and charge extra for seats that are currently empty! Having this family suffer the pain because they can’t honor our military with a decent plane ticket due to no fault of their own! It’s the Military for God sake! This is what you call AMERICAN Airlines? They should be ashamed! All our Military want to do is get home! If “American” cared for our military families and gave them the honor they deserve…they would put them in those open seats as a gesture of respect for what they do for our country! :mad:

Alaska is not owned by American, not even a minority interest.
ALK = Alaska Air Group listed on the NYSE. AAL = American Airlines Group listed on the Nasdaq. Look no further than their respective SEC 10K filings.
Pretty sure the DOJ would have a problem with AAL owning ALK
