Tigerair Taiwan - Obscene baggage fees
 

I booked a flight for approximately $75 USD. At the time of the booking, there was nothing specific in either the confirmation email or the terms and conditions about baggage fees.

When I arrived at the airport and tried to check 2 bags (for 3 passengers), a total of 52 kilos, I was told the baggage fee would be nearly $600 USD. I was told that it said on their website you needed to pre-purchase a baggage pass in advance for the appropriate baggage allowance. I was also told I couldn't purchase it since it was now less than 4 hours before the flight, so my options were to pay them $600 or forfeit my ticket.

After complaining to customer service, all I was told was "it's on the website". And was given no refund or reimbursement. This felt to me like deception or robbery, since I had no way of knowing if I hadn't scoured the fine print of their website - not something I typically do when booking a flight.
