Flight cancelled and no reimbursement! Anyone have ideas?

I don't get it...My flight from JFK to BWI was delayed for about 8 hours then canceled, apparently due to weather of which we could not see any issues. So, in order to get home for work the next morning, I had to take a train at the cost of $124. Delta won't reimburse anything plus they lost my luggage which I was not allowed to open a ticket for while at the airport. I had to go back to my local airport and fill out a claim, come to find out one bag was lost at that point. I drove all the way to Reagan national (about 70 miles) to get that bag than had to wait another 3 days for my other bag! All of this and Delta says because it was a weather cancellation they won't refund anything, plus I didn't even take their last leg of my flight that was part of a longer trip that was god awfully expensive.

Has anyone out there had any luck whatsoever in getting a refund or partial refund for anything like this? Is there anything else that can be done to complain and get our voices heard?

The airline industry screws you with high prices and then does whatever they want to and screws you again by stranding you in the airport.

yea many of us have tried barking up that tree and getting nowhere. I've given up long ago, now when it comes to delays I either wait so many hours and go home or get a hotel if I am not in my own city. Just a tip, I've been stuck in BWI before, but I've flown Continental and when it comes to weather delays, they would put you on an amtrak. So you might wanna try them when it comes to travelling to BWI. But most if not all airlines don't refund much when it comes such a situation. Best you can squeeze out of em is travel vouchers at best.

If Delta cancelled your flight and could not reaccomdate you, you are entitled to a refund of the fare, but not for out of pocket expenses such as your train ticket. If you have not gotten the refund of that unused flight coupon, please directed a complaint to DOT at airconsumer.ost.dot.gov.
