Cancelled my reservation and now won't give me back my money!
Let me just say I am furious. I had a United Thanksgiving flight booked from Rochester Ny to San Jose CA, and as I see many of you are experiencing, the flight was dropped by United. I decided rather than make the trip, I would cancel it. That was on August 11th. I was told it would be 2 credit card billing cycles to process my refund. Why is that? It takes minutes for them to charge your credit card! But nevertheless, I was forced to wait. It's now Oct 27th and I have yet to see my refund. I booked everything through Cheaptickets.com - never again! They just keep bouncing me around, extending the time frame that United takes to process my $520.00 refund.

You shouldn't go to United fore a refund, you need togo back to Cheaptickets.com, they are the ones responsible for the refund, not United. Plus if there was a schedule change, CT is usually very good in rebooking you if you need another flight. But if its a refund you want you can go back to them and get it.

Refunds
Tamera: Sometimes the refund is issued much faster than you think. The 2 billing cycles are their so that the company can look at your problem and authorize it. Check with your credit card company periodically to see if the refund has been issued. I am glad people like you post your complaints here. It lets the world know what is happening. Good luck to you.

Regulation Z [12 CFR 226.12(3)(1)] states that a carrier (or any merchant) must forward a credit to the credit card company within 7 business days after receiving a complete refund application.
However, it might take 2 billing cycles before the credit appears on your statement. The 2 billing cycles is the credit card, not the carrier. Check with your credit card company to see if they recieved a credit or charge back from United/Cheaptickets. |
