Delta Ripped Us Off -Fuel & Baggage

Delta refuses to refund fuel surcharges for December flights.

It has also posted a $15 baggage fee after many of its customers bought their tickets back in the summer.

Delta also refuses to credit that and their customer service representative did not do anything. Her supervisor was not allowed to be reached over the phone. Delta is a scamming airliner.

DON'T BOOK WITH DELTA

If you purchased your tickets before Delta's policy changed, you should not be charged. If you contacts with Delta do not get the fee refunded, contact DOT at http://airconsumer.ost.dot/problems.htm

Delta's first checked bag fee policy can be found here.

Quote:

When traveling within the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Puerto Rico you can currently check one bag, per passenger, free of charge. However, customers who purchased a ticket on or after November 6, 2008, for travel on or after December 5, 2008, our checked bags fees will be changing to $15 for the first bag and $25 for the second bag.
So if Delta charged you or anyone else the $15 first bag fee and your ticket was purchased before Nov. 6 you should contact them for a refund.

As far as the fuel surcharge goes, when you booked the ticket you agreed to pay it. At that point you entered into a contract (see contact of carriage) whereby you agrred to pay the price you paid, including all taxes, fees and surcharges, to transport you from "point A to point B" and back again in the case of a round-trip ticket. Delta is under no obligation to refund that to you. If the fuel surcharge had increased from the time you booked to the time you traveled would you be expected to pay Delta the difference? You'd really have an issue to compain about then!

I don't understand, how are they ripping you off for a fuel surcharge? You agreed to pay that amount when you purchased the ticket, did Delta ever give you the impression when you purchased the ticket that the surcharge was refundable at any point?
The first bag fees however do not apply if the tickets were purchased over the summer, only the second would cost 50$. That you should be able to get a refund on, but the surcharge? come on...
