Time limit on editing posts?

I was responding to a rather lengthy thread with an equally lengthy reply. After posting I noticed several typos so I clicked on edit, made the corrections, then received a pop-up that there is a 5 minute time limit on editing one's post. That's utterly ridiculous. If I post something I should be able to edit that post regardless of the time elapsed.

I agree. I usually use MS Word to type many posts so that most of the errors can be caught. Should be, the writer can edit their own post anytime. But then again, if many respond, then an edit may make no sense to the rest of the readers who read the new post with the old responses of others.

This is not the only problem

If you write a lengthy reply, it often signs you off and you have to sign in again. A couple of times when I have done this, it has posted my response twice. Very odd.

Editing of posts probably should have a time limit to avoid people changing a post so substantially that subsequent posts no longer make any sense, but really a 30 minute time frame would be more appropriate.

OK - where are the moderators of this board? 2 weeks now and no reply to our inquiries about this?

The time limit while editing is limited in mostly forums. It is the right thing because to protect site from spammers. The right person can edit in limited time which is enough to edit.

You're commenting to a banned poster in a thread that hasn't been commented in for 4+ years. Why?

Sorry, I don't bother the date, I just reply the thread.
