By checking in early you ensured you had a seat. If a flight is oversold they will deny boarding to the last people to check in, so you were fine in this respect.

I'm sorry you did not receive the seat you chose online but seat assignments are never guaranteed. When you checked in you were handed a boarding pass with your seat assignment. If it is not what you selected online you should have taken the matter up with the check-in agent. Quite possibly since you were traveling alone your seat was changed to accommodate a family travling with young children or for a similar reason. It is too late if you discover your seat assignment is wrong when boarding begins as the airline has already assigned all of the seats. As you said, though, "no big deal."

I just don't get how you lost a day of your trip home because of a delayed bag? Did you wait at the airport until your bag came over on the next flight? Usually the airline will make arrangements to deliver the bag to you. I'm sorry your bag was delayed but it does happen occasionally. you mentioned you had 2 bags (which in my opinion is a lot for a 6 day trip anywhere) so I assume you had clothes to wear when you got home? Without knowing how you packed I can't be sure but to say that the delay of one of your two bags by one day ruined your trip is a stretch.

Not sure why you posted this in the Continental forum anyway as it is clearly Delta.

I have had a few instances where a bag didn't make my destination. I simply went to the airlines baggage office, gave them my address, and they delivered it. An inconvenience, yes...but I didn't lose any time.
