Not offered group discount! Flight #1635 & #1692

Can someone please explain or justify why I was not offered a group discount when I booked 11 flights back in March '09. My family and I are all flying to Puerto Rico on July 9th for a Family Reunion. When I first booked my flights I was unaware that such a discount exsisted. In March I called AA to begin booking flights. I spoke to a representative on the phone and began booking & trying to assign seats, etc.., I guess she was overwhelmed by the amount of people I was booking for because she advised me that it would be better and easier for me to book online. I then went ahead and finished booking online... It was when a friend asked a few days ago if I had received the "group discount"-that I became aware of this "discount." I called AA a few minutes ago and spoke to a supervisor in reference to this issue, who told me that at this point there's nothing they can do, since the tickets had already been purchased months ago, not to mention the fact that she tried to tell me that the reason I was not told of the discount was because "I" had booked online! I believe this is unfair and the original representative should have mentioned the discount, rather than brushing me off and telling me to book online, because my numerous reservations were too overwhelming for her. I am not sure how much we lost out on, but any discount would have been greatly appreciated for a group of 11. (Not to mention, that my brother, his wife & 2 kids are also on the same flight, but they made their reservations seperately.) We chose AA as our carrier because we trust in your service. With today's wide variety of airlines & competition, we could have chosen any airline. Most importantly, we trusted AA's great reputation. Can someone please contact me in reference to this unfair loss. I am appalled at the fact that an AA supervisor does not have the authority to rectify or make a wrong, right. We are a group/family of 15 traveling on the same flight! I am sure AA has the abilty to treat their loyal customers fairly! Or so I would hope to think so!

Most airlines, including AA I believe, require that at least ten people in your group travel from the same city on the same date and flight in order for any group discount to kick in. For larger groups (were talking conventions here - much larger numbers) they may pre-negotiate a set fare for people to travel from multiple cities to the same destination. I'm sure you have a lovely family so please don't take my statement as derogatory but even counting your brother's family your group only totals 15 and to most airlines that's a small kettle of fish. If a group discount had even applied I doubt it would have been very much.
