TAM Airlines - TAM Airlines is the worst!!

I recently wanted to fly with my newborn baby on a flight using a little crib that TAM has for your baby to sleep in. I called them numerous times to ask questions about it and they NEVER ever mentioned anything specific about it except that you can do it. I bought the tickets and sure enough they told me that one of the international flights doesnt have the option of the crib. Therefore I filed a complaint with TAM's talk to the president complaint hotline and they ruled that they did communicate everything needed to me. I just have to pay about $600-700 dollars to change 3 tickets now. I asked them to let me hear the phone conversations where the attendant explained everything about the crib but of course they said it couldnt be done-have a nice day!!

Well I am going to complain about this because its just not right how they mistreat their customers. This is one of many instances and this time they are going to hear about it after I contact as many government agencies as I can in the US about them. The ticket was purchased in NY.

Well I just wrote this to warn all the parents out there with newborns that some planes may not have availability for a little crib for your baby and to never ever take a customer service rep's answer as absolutely accurate.
You must ask the question does the plane have availability and only then will you have a chance of not getting the short end of the stick.

Thank you TAM for an always entertaining adventure in aggravation and I hope some people think twice before using your disorganized airline.

BACC Travel Agents of couse get the assist here in ruining my day because they sold me the ticket without confirming that the plane had availability for the crib. BACC of course wouldnt even speak to me about it. They just transferred me to a useless voicemail of the office manager. Never heard from them. They also have a wonderful tracj record with leaving other clients in the wind.

Tchau to both TAM Airlines and BACC Travel !!!

What about a baby seat?

I've read of horror stories of people not being allowed to bring-on automobile-type baby seats (maybe they didn't want to pay for the extra seat?) even when the seats were labeled "FAA approved." But anyway, why wasn't a baby seat an option in this situation? Also, if the flight you were taking was full, and you weren't in first class, that might be one reason why the airline balked at the crib. To my understanding, the airline, in theory, is supposed to, at least, allow you to bring on a baby seat if you pay a fare for the seat that the baby seat will occupy.

Did the child have a medical condition that necessitated the use of a crib? Were you trying to have your child travel as a "lap child?" That is, traveling without payment of a fare?

So, how is this TAM's fault then?

The airlines don't record every conversation. Recordings are kept randomly for training purposes, and if there is a security threat called in. But in this case you didn't even make a reservation with them directly, so how would you propose that they even find such a recording if it were kept?

You have another post where they changed the flight but didn't call you. If this is the same trip, then, again, it's your travel agent's fault, not TAM's. When you book with any agency (brink and mortar or online) they do not send your contact info to the airline, except in rare occasions. Your travel agent has the responsibility to notify you of changes and to book other travel if needed. TAM had no way to contact you in regards to this.

TAM is truly the worst airline I have experienced

I have spent two weeks and numerous calls trying to book business class tickets from MIA to GRU. They keep telling me my Amex card is declined but Amex claims they have approved the charges. The customer service people are terrible, I ask to speak to supervisor and they claim they have none on duty that speak English and will not have one return my calls. American Airlines is far, far superior to TAM airlines! TAM airline swill go bankrupt!

TAM Airlines are aggressive, unprofessional and clueless!

Last night I took my wife to Heathrow to travel to Sao Paulo on the overnight flight. My wife is 29 weeks pregnant and had been given written certification by our NHS midwife that she was fit to travel. Despite having all of the necessary paperwork, the Station Manager Gilda Ponde refused to allow my wife onto the flight.

Another TAM employee by the name of 'Jefferson' proceeded to display aggressive and threatening behaviour towards me. It is quite clear that employees of this airline receive no customer service training, and have no idea what professional conduct means.

Eventually, only after the Heathrow BAA security staff were called, who managed to reason with the airline that their behaviour was ridiculous (and a phonecall from our midwife saying that in all the years she has worked as a midwife she has never heard of an airline not accepting their official fit to travel letter) my wife was let on the flight.

Gilda Ponde claimed that she was protecting the interests of my wife's health whereas she and the other TAM employees, particularly the aggressive caveman Jefferson, put my wife and new baby under considerable stress and adversely affected her health. If you are pregnant or with a baby and thinking of travelling with Tam or even just want a professional airline to travel with, think again before choosing Tam! And Tam, shame on you!!!
