Very Poor Service

On 9-28-09 I had a client try to board an Alaska Airlines flight in Tucson Arizona to come back to Seattle, WA. I work for a large Native American Corporation who has used Alaska Airlines for quite sometime. My client was denied boarding because she did not have the fifteen dollars for her baggage fee. The people that brought her to the terminal tried to pay with a credit card and were told that cash would only suffice. She had to go back and wait for the next day and at the same time the people I had dispatched to pick her up were oblivious to all of the happenings and left Sea Tac airport late at night bewildered of where my client was.

Nice job Alaska, I will be seeking another airline next time.

I don't think you were given the whole story. Why would they not accept the credit card? It's actually easier than a cash transaction. As a matter of fact all on-board purchases on Alaska Airlines are now cashless. Something just doesn't add up. Was the card declined by the Alaska agent or by the bank when they tried to get approval?

do you mean that between them they could not raise $15. That's real po folks for you

I agree with PHX. Sounds like the card was either denied, or your clients aren't being honest with you.

Alaska Airlines ALWAYS takes credit cards, unless of course the card is bad in some way.

Delta handles Alaska Airlines in Tucson. They do, in fact, accept credit cards at both DL and AS.

I wasn't aware DL was ground handling AS in TUS. I guess it makes sense with only one flight per day. Last time I flew into/out of TUS was several years ago and AS had their own employees there. Do you know if there's still a station manager there or does the PHX manager cover the TUS station too?

There is no station manager, but I don't know if it's under the Phoenix manager's jurisdiction.

I'll ask next time I fly out of T2.
