HUGE price difference....
I booked a flight last month for my husband and I to go to Michigan for December. I was told if I find our tickets at a less rate up untill 24 hours before we depart I will get the difference.
Last week I found them for $70 less each and when I called to get the difference was told it has to be at least $100 difference per ticket...so I have been looking every couple days. Well today I found them on the NWA website for $116 less each for a total of $232 difference, the tickets are now $270. That is almost the price of another ticket. Well I called and was told they will charge me a $150 admin fee per ticket for a total of $300.... This is so wrong!!!!! |
I had a very similar situation. For my Thanksgiving travel next week, which I booked in late May, I checked the prices last week and found it to be $85 less than what I paid. Look at it this way...had the fares gone up would the airline have called you and demanded the difference? Additionally by booking early I was able to upgrade my Los Angeles to DC flight using miles which is harder to do closer in since they limit the number of mileage upgrades. I was also able to select exit row seats for all of the other flights plus I'm eligible for a status upgrade on one of the return flights from Philadelphia to Las Vegas and the earlier you book the higher up you are on the list.
So I can either look at it one way - if I had waited until last week I would have saved $85 dollars, or the other- I was able to get one trans-continental flight upgraded early on and I have comfy seats for all the other flights including the long haul return via Las Vegas. I guess in the long run it was a good trade off. |
