Sudden Airfair Increase
 

Does anyone have any idea as to why Continental, American, Delta and United have raised their rates from about $250 in mid April to $450 now for the same dates, flights in August 2010 from Newark, NJ to Las Vegas? :confused:

Because they operate complex monopolies and monitor each others prices and they collude to rip off passengers. If you want this to change, you need to talk to your congressman or senator, cos public pressure will do nothing. They are immune to competitive pressures and have legal protection from competition and anti-trust law.

Or, between April and now the $250 tickets have sold out leaving the higher priced tiers. The airlines only sale a select number of reservations at a specific rate. That is why it is best to buy now when you see the price is low on airfare and not wait until later.

I don't think it has anything to do with monopilies. The airlines are a business and have the right to charge what they want for their services. Las Vegas is a popular destination. Those reservations are going to go fast which means prices will rise regularly. Don't be surprised if they soon go from $450 to $550 and on. Check for a month later than you are checking now and they may still be at $250, but as that date approaches and reservations for that date begin to go, so will the prices rise; supply and demand. Also, it is the summer approaching, which is travel season, which means more demand, which usually will mean higher prices.

Isn't a touch more accurate to say that they have LIMITED exemption from anti-trust law? To not say otherwise might give the impression that it's a full or blanket immunity which as i know it does not exist under current Federal Law. If they did get full immunity, I'd sure like to read the P.L. (Public Law) or U.S.C. (United States Code) on that, if you could cite it.

More simply, it's supply and demand.

Everyone hoping to catch a last-minute deal on airfare during Spring Break is not in for a nice shock. A new round of airfare increases is occurring and there is unlikely to be a reprieve.

If you don't have any idea on how this flight are fastly increasing, I will just give you a little information what is the main reason behind this. Sadly, whenever the price of fuel goes up, the price of airfare increases. Flight companies have announced a brand new round of airfare increases. Also, take into account fuel prices. Or haven't you noticed what you pay at the pumps lately?

I actually noticed raising fuel prices. It's really disturbing as for me, what if they are just going to continue growing that intensely?
