There IS no "customer service"

I haven't flown CO for awhile and decided to cash out my FFmiles on a ticket. Now I need to change the return, so off to the website I go...where I'm told:

! Continental.com is unable to initiate your flight change request at this time. Please contact Continental Reservations at 1-800-525-0280 to make changes to this Itinerary.

However...when I call that number, I'm told that they're not taking calls (NOT TAKING CALLS?!?!) because of "heavy call volume".

Right.

Has anyone run across this and, if yes, how did you resolve it?

(Need I say that I'm never--and I do mean NEVER--flying CO again?)

Thanks for your help.

Kind of a drastic and closed ended statement to make for such a minor issue, isn't it? Sure, you can be irritated and maybe even upset but to say "I'm never--and I do mean NEVER--flying CO again", which will soon be the biggest airline in the world is quite overboard, imo.

Did you try the website later or continue calling? Obviously, sooner or later the call volume will be reduced.

This is not the first time...

...or the 17th, that CO has bolluxed up my travel--merely the last. And it's not a minor issue to me, as I frequently need to provide clients with my itin to facilitate transport from airports to locations.

I have been trying unsuccessfully since 2am PDT to reach an actual human.

I've gone over to AA and booked the flight I need.
