AIR TRANSAT COMPLAINT...looking for others

Looking to speak with anyone who was booked with Air Transat on Sat. April 3/2010 Toronto to Orlando

Flight TS882 orginally operated under skyservice but then changed to CanJet. PLEASE NOTE - this flight was booked for April 3 but when Air Transat changed to Canjet the flight got changed to April 4

Iam in the process of sueing Air Transat. I have filed papers thro small claims court. Im encouraging other people who have had problems with AirT to do the same. Stand up to this company. They are getting away with far too much!

Long long long story short - when my flight was changed to Canjet the date was changed to April 4. I never received any notification on this (AirT says an email went out, but I never received it). Once I found out AirT RESENT me a new ticket with CanJet's name on it - BUT THE DATE OF THE FLIGHT WAS STILL LISTED as April 3.

We showed up at the airport on April 3 at 4am only to be told "im sorry that flight doesn't leave until tomorrow" Stranded with 2 small children. We had to pay an extra $1500 that day to get a 1way ticket with WestJet(on top of our round trip tickets) just to get out of the airport that day. The AirT rep at the counter at 4am suggested we try WestJet.

Now AirT will not reimburse me this money. I've had to fight and fight - they orginally agrees to pay 1/2 of it, which was not acceptable in my books. Then they've reimbursed only a portion of our unused orginial ticket. All in all im still out $260 +. Not the point - I also suffered a miscarriage from all the stress this has put my family thro. Horrible airline and customer service in my opinion

Id love to hear from others in the same situation or anyone else who was on scheduled on this flight. My court date is in Sept. 2010

Also note - I took them to the Better business bureau (they are not registered) so they couldn't do much. CTA was not able to help me, TICO was not able to help me and TICO suggested I take AirT to small claims court.

Air Transat

Hi there

I am responding to your air transat complaint for other people.
I had a very nasty experience
Like you - I tried all the routes including Better Business and small claims seems to be the only way - unless we can get a class action together?
Email me back and we can talk.
Jenny

I won my case. Sueing them was in my best interest. Of course I didn't get my full amount I was sueing them for....nor did I expect to get the full amount. For me it was about proving a point. In the end, they finally DID have to pay back all my out of pocket expense + I still came out ahead (certainly the hassle wasn't worth it - but the judge told me "you proved your point").

re air transat

I am considering suing too (hubby a lawyer as well)

My issue is to do with the ridiculous overweight charge.

I had 2 suitcases and was hoping to use the smaller one as hand luggage.
As I checked in, at Heathrow, and had said goodbye to family, I had no alternative but to pay $250 dollars for the extra suitcase. (Almost equivalent to one way airfare)
A lot of people were being charged and were livid. The woman in the seat next to me said they do this frequently.
The next part of my journey was with westjet and they had no issue with me bringing the small case on as hand luggage.
Can you tell me more about the case. Who did Air Transat send as their rep?
My email is jennwright7@shaw.ca
Cheers and glad you won. I trust they paid the court costs too?
