Thai Airways - online ticketing policy
Thai Airways does not allow for a third party to book online for a family member. It has this policy that
THE PICTURE IDENTIFICATION, INCLUDING CREDIT CARD USED FOR ANY PURCHASE BY PHONE OR INTERNET, SHALL BE PRESENTED AT CHECK-IN. This means a husband cannot purchase a ticket for his wife. A father for their daugher, and etc. The cardholder must be part of the travelling party. I don't know of another airline that has this restriction. They say that it is designed to prevent credit card fraud. I live in Korea. My mother lives in Australia. I booked a flight for my mum to visit me in Korea. My mother cannot use the e-ticket that I have booked because she is not the credit card holder. I am. I have sent many emails to Thai Airways but they are now ignoring my emails. The options that they have provided me are: 1. Present myself in person at Melbourne ticketing office and they will reprint the e-ticket free of charge without the 'present credit card' restriction. (I live in Korea. How is this going to work?) 2. Send a bank cheque to Melbourne ticketing office for full fare. Once the bank cheque has been received and processed, my credit card will be reimbursed minus a processing fee. So much for the ease and convenience of online booking. |
