Flight Canceled-- All Costs Are Mine
Continental 3072 from Quebec to Newark canceled 2/19/08. NOT for weather (other flights were leaving)-- the agent said something about Air Traffic Controllers canceling the flight. Continental offered nothing-- not even a cup of coffee! I guess that is the way it is, but I was shocked. The next flight from Quebec on any airline that they could offer me was two days later! I would have to find my own hotel and pay for two extra nights. They ended up booking me on a flight out of Montreal, but I had to get to Montreal on my own. They didn't call train station or rental car place for me. I found out next train was too late and there were no one-way rental cars at airport. Ended up getting a txi to take my family to Montreal for $300 and I think I should be reimbursed for this expense!

yea they aren't gonna compensate you for an air traffic cancellation, they don't have control over that, plus it's actually in their contract of carriage. But what they should have done was check other airlines going to newark such as air canada, because as part of their rule 240 they must get you on a flight even if its on another airline, and/or with a connection.

Let's help get Continental to the top of the customer complaint list with the DOT, where we all know they belong. Don't submit false complaints. It's not necessary. The way this airline operates, there are too many legitimate complaints. Here is a great article about the right places to complain, and, unlike Continental's web-site, offers an email address to send complaints, and links to a web form: http://www.usatoday.com/travel/colum...woodyard_x.htm
email: Airconsumer@ost.dot.gov form: http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/escomplaint/es.cfm |
