delta flight overbooked
heres the story...
we worked a flight (for the airline i work for) from california to virgina. due to our flight being late we had to get a new flight home and unfortunatly it was on delta from ORF-ATL-MDW. first flight was fine...although one flight attendant was sleeping in my seat when i boarded the plane and the other was just a bitch. second flight, we had seat requested boarding passes. went up to the gate and the agent told us we couldn't get seats. we had confirmed tickets and HAD to be home. she came on over the intercom and said they down sized the aircraft and now the flight had 10 open seats with 30 people without seat assignments. after waiting and waitiing (yes there were some volunteers) 5 out of 7 of us (the people i was traveling with) did not get seats. we were waiting to see what was going to happen next. we heard some people once again volunteer to give up their seats but the agents actually told them "no" it was ok...WHAT!!!??? i couldn't believe it so 20 people are without seats. I called my company and told them what was happening (they weren't happy, since now they have to hurry and find 5 flight attendants to fill in for us at 3 am the next day). They gave us once again seat requested seats for the next AM she told us we would get seats when we checked in...I strictly told them NO and we HAVE to be home in the morning and finally they gave us boarding passes with seat assignments and told us we took the last 5 seats, if that were the case why is she saying we were guarenteed seats on the flight. However Delta did do good. they offered all 20 people that didn't get on the flight a $400 travel voucher, 2 flight coupons for a free drink or headphones, free hotel for the night, $10 dinner voucher (which i was surprised can go pretty far in the ATL airport) and $7 for breakfast. the hotel was a dump but it was a bed, and after being up for 27 hours and working it was fine for what little time we were going to be there. the agents at the gate were extremly nice and helpful for us and everybody in the same situation as us...however some people still werent happy and wanted to complain to customer service, we were asking for comment cards. lol. would i fly delta again...yes but only becuase for work i have too at times and i will be using my voucher...other wise...not my airline of choice but they did get me home....only 12 hours late
