Lufthansa - my wife is stuck what can I do??

Hi,

I live in Singapore with my wife. She made a trip to Europe and was supposed to fly back yesterday Bucharest - Munchen - Singapore.
The Bucharest flight got two hours delayed (not because of the weather) and therefore she missed the only flight to Singapore that day.
She spent half of the night queing to get a rebooking but then the counter closed at 2am and she was sent to a hotel.
Today she is back at the airport and she is queing with another thousand people stuck in Munich.
I am shocked that this is the second day and she still knows nothing. She can't even step out of the queue for a bathroom break because she will need to start all over again.
I wonder what her rights are, and if there is anything I can do from here.
Any help or info is appreciated.

The fact that we will never fly Lufthansa again is certain, but of course won't do us no good right now....

is your wife able to call the airline? she may get somewhere quicker than waiting in a line.

She has clear rights under EU directive 261. She is entitled to compensation and she may be able to ask for re-routing on another route, if the delay is unreasonable. However, there is no way to exercise these rights without waiting in the queue. Everyone ahead of her in the queue also have rights. You can also call the Lufthansa call centre and try and rebook her that way whilst she waits in the queue. This would not affect your rights and you may get through before her, and get her re-ticketed.

Can we say "Major snow storm in Europe"

We can say major snow storm in Europe... but unlike in the US, weather does not change a passengers rights to accommodation, re-routing and compensation. If she is stranded, Lufty have to help.

If your wife had a reservation with Lufthansa from Bucarest to Singapore with transit in Munich you may be able to claim compensation for long delay over 3 hours upon arrival at your final destination. Even though you change flights, your reservation is regarded as a combined flight and Lufthansa are obliged to not cause long delays of the reserved flight.
You can get assistance for claim at euclaim.com
