American: forced to buy blankets!

wow. I have been a platinum memeber for 15 years and have been ver loyal to American but I thnink that is going to chnage... I remember the days when I would fly LAX-JFK a 6.5 hour flight and was actually treated like a person. now we are treated like something just better than farm animals. (and i am being kind).

I used to commute between LAS-JFK for 4 years from 1997 to 2002 on American. Since I have been commuting between London and JFK so havent been privy to the changes in domestic travel policy.

Only purchased food...? while i would expect this from Jet Blue because its considered an airline for personal use (i.e. they make it very easy to change seats no matter what price you purchase), i wouldnt expect this from American who charges a small fortune for changing tickets.

no blankets? now this is where i am really annoyed. they only have blankets FOR PURCHASE? like.. really? are they in that dire of a situation that they cant even offer a blanket. i assure you that no one is going to steal those things... as they smell of over processed cleaning solution. I was sitting on the exit row on this past flight which had a terrible draft and they wouldnt offer me a blanket. I had to BUY one because I was sitting next to the drafty window on the plane.

Where does it end? charging for bathroom use? lets hope not.

If that window was draughty you had bigger problems than a blanket!
