Robbed at the Delta Check-in Counter in Houston this Morning

I paid the $25 bucks to put the bag on the flight with my aunt...We went to check it in and the agent told us it was 5 lbs overweight and charged me $90 to check the bag. Then she threatened not to put my aunt on the plane if I didn't talk nicer to her. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING???? You hold me up for $100 bucks over 5 lbs and then expect me to kiss your (*&^%* while I'm paying it. REALLY? We will never fly this piece of crap airline again and I'll let everybody know it.

I'm no fan of Delta, however the employee you were dealing with did not make the rules or set the fees for overweight bags nor did she pack your bag. She was only doing her job. If you were disrespectful in any way she had every right to say something about it. If you felt you were being charged unfairly why did you not request a supervisor or perhaps politely suggest she use a different scale to weigh the bag? You could have removed some of the items from the bag as well.

Yes Delta, on the whole, has less than stellar customer service but you can't give an employee a hard time just for doing her job.

wow...you sound just like a Delta Rep

Actually, no...I was not initially rude. I expressed shock, not outrage and the Delta rep responded by basically telling me to shut-up and pay the fee. Furthermore, I told her I would remove 5 lbs from the bag and started to open it - she threatened to call security and told me I had to leave the line if I wanted to pull anything out of the bag and that my Aunt wouldn't be getting on her flight.

I think we all know the truth about Delta with the recent news about how they've handled baggage for our military also. Definite problems. There is no one the country that would step up to defend their poor customer service and bag issues now accept a company rep.

It never ceases to amaze me when people say customers should not complain, as they "are just doing their job".... Feedback from customers is a vital resource for most businesses. For airline employees, it seems to an excuse to makes threats against the customer. They are out of control. We need better regulation.

technically they are just doing their job, telling the passenger the bag is overweight and there is a fee....why get mad at the agent? We dont know the whole story, the OP states he wasn't rude and the employee was...do i believe him...being a delta story heck yeah. but i have seen first hand the passenger get mad at the agent/flgiht attendant then storm away and complain to a different agent that the other person was rude...its not always the employee in the wrong or rude
