Flight 1071 Weather is just an Excuse
Flight cancelled at 1:30am 6/25/11. Flight was originally to depart TPA at 8:25pm 6/24/11. Airtran insists it was weather. And this is only partly true. We were told the plane we were waiting for was delayed coming out of ATL due to weather. But after the weather passed thru ATL, the plane we were awaiting was the only one that did not make it out of ATL. Then we were told it was missing a crew. When they finally had a crew we were told it was wheels up and was out of ATL. About 20 minutes before that flight was to arrive in TPA we were told "the flight crew might not want to continue on to CAK, and this decision was totally up to them". After that incoming flight debarked they told us the crew was not going on to CAK. Airtran insists this was weather related, and I do agree the delay was. But the cancellation was not due to the fact we had an airplane and a crew! This plane was also suppose to be in CAK for a morning flight out the next day. I am curious to know how that flight went out on time this morning from CAK. Curiously the plane we were awaiting was being prep'd by the ground crew as if it was moving out again but without us. And the flight crew never got off the plane. Airtran could not get us out until late in the weekend due to overbookings on next days flights.
