AA - Still no Baggage and refusal to help

I checked in at the check-in counters at DCA and was told that my baggage had been checked straight through to Johannesburg, as my flight plan was from DCA to JFK to ORT. It is now 5 DAYS AFTER my flight and I still do not have my baggage! My final air carrier (South African Airways) has been trying to get my baggage sent from JFK to ORT and no one from American Airlines or JFK is responding. I have phoned AA numerous times and they just tell me to contact SAA and don't seem very interested in helping me with my baggage location or how to get it sent here. I have just spoken to Marilyn Tatkunas from American Airline and she brushed off my issue saying that it is SAA's responsibility... EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AA WHO ASSURED ME THAT MY BAGGAGE WAS CHECKED STRAIGHT THROUGH TO JOHANNESBURG!!! AA should be more concerned with this issue as I have now gone 5 days without my Suit case and should have been compensated for this!

Has anyone else ever had this problem???

AA lying about my bag location

I just received word that AA has told JFK that "the passenger has collected her bag"... Unless I have some sort of identical twin who I don't know about, sounds like AA has A LOT of explaining to do!!!

Agreed, American Airlines has a lot of problems right now that are unfortunately turning in to our problems as I have a bag that is in parts unknown right now too. Not impressed.

it sounds like they have thiefs working for them or idiots

I have a bag they locked and I can't unlock it. It has been since the end of June. I even went thru the BBB and it appears they don't care about customer service or disabled veterans

lost luggage and shocking customer service

As an international traveller- my bag is now missing over a week
Was sent god knows where from Washington on June 9th- all the staff I spoke to were really rude and unhelpful

My international carrier is now trying to find my bag, but my own (international)calls to AA have recieved no results: basically WE DON'T KNOW OR CARE

I am really shocked at how uncaring these people can be- and also that they seem to have no internal policies/claim forms etc to help out- I am now hundreds of dollars out of pocket

(And this was after my phone call to AA resulted in me being sent to the wrong airport in Washington- another $200 taxi fare!!!!)

First of all, can you kill the bold and giant font?

You say you contacted AA - but "your international carrier" is helping you now. Which airline last carried your bag?

If it wasn't AA (meaning, if you transferred to BA or some other airline) then why should AA be involved?
