Changing Flight Time

Just got a nice call from AirTran - we are flying in about two months time as a family. The call was to inform us that our flight details had been changed and to call them at 1-800-247-8726 for details....

I did, the response (eventually) ...

"I'm sorry, we can't give you your new details as you booked through a travel agent."

Kind of amusing in a sad, pitiful way. What a wonderful way to do business. Luckily I can keep my work travel with airlines that still appreciate what customer service means.

i didnt know airlines did that. i know cruise lines, when you book a cruise with a Travel agent you may not talk to the cruise line directly, you must call the TA and they will talk to the cruise line. the only time you may talk directly with the cruise line is if you call them or book on their website. i guess i didnt know airlines did that too since i always book with the airline and skip the TA

Because you booked through a 3rd party site all information has been relased to them. You will need to contact your travel agent/service for details. You chose to be represented by this 3rd party booking site/brick and mortor agency, their for you have decided that you do not want to deal with the airline directly. Had you booked with Air Tran directly, you would have been notified right away and avoided the whole runaround.

Funny, AirTran started the run around by calling me and leaving a message to call back. When I did call back they can't tell me anything. You have to laugh really, no common sense what so ever. When I called my 'bricks and mortar' agency - superb service. Guess who I'll be dealing with again :)

This is just nonsense. They called you with a schedule change and they should have given you the information when you returned their call. The only time they should refer you back to the the travel agent is if you try to make a change in a reservation that an agent has made prior to the travel agent issuing the ticket.

A320... another totally illogical response. AirTran called the customer. What would have happened if they answered? Would they have told them that we are calling you to tell you we can't tell you anything?
