Continental Airlines # 4907 Burlington International (BTV) to Newark Liberty Int'l (EWR) Departure (BTV): August 8, 6:13 AM EDT (morning) then Continental Airlines # 1581 to Seattle-TAC Unfortunately due to urgency I didn't have the availability to go to the Claims Desk. The point is I paid $25.00 for a service rendered. What gave you the right to treat my personal belongings so badly? This isn't regular handing, There is a definite loss of respect on both sides now. I replaced the bag yesterday for $160.00. I know this is just going to be passed over. I just wish somebody would give a damn. |
Bags lie flat in the cargo compartment of the aircraft and they are stacked one on top of the other. It's possible yours was on the bottom and/or heavier bags were either stacked on top of it, or fell on it. Airlines have no control over that situation. That's the way they have to be loaded on the plane. If this was a good piece of luggage, it should not have shattered like that. Quality bags have steel frames. You should contact the manufacturer for replacement since it should be under warranty if it was new.

I'm kinda wondering if it fell from the top of the loading conveyor. On some aircraft, that's quite a drop.
