Warning: Philippine Airlines worst kept secret for travelers out of NYC/EAST COAST
I Happened To Be At JFK Waiting For A Delayed AA Flight For My Mom.i Noticed A Man With Several Luggage Items Unable To Speak The Language And Seemingly Trying To Make Contact Via A Pay Phone And Unable To Use His Cell Phone. I Offered My Cell For Him To Make A Call. One Call Of Assistance Has Translated To Many Calls To Aa And Philippine Airlines And Several Missed Flights By This Man. As I Write This Complaint (my 1st Of Any Airline Even Though Coincidentally I Have Owned My Own Travel Agency For Over 35 Years) I Have Been Waiting On Hold For 1 Hour And 20 Minutes As Philippine Airlines( Pr) Informs Me That They Are Coordinating To Get This Man Confirmed With AA On Their 715p Flight Since The 345p And The 445p Have Departed (no Joke!)
I Left This Man At JFK. He Trusted Me And Gave Me The Cash Necessary To Pay For His Ticket Exchange Which Only Philippine Airlines Can Exchange Since It's Their Ticket Stock. AA Can't Collect Cash Or Take A Credit Card To Assist This Passenger Or Even Touch The Ticket. Philippine Airlines Could Not Help Him Yesterday Since Their Los Angeles Ticketing Office Was Closed Due To The Labor Day Holiday. Furthermore, They Need The Credit Card Authorization Form Faxed To Them With Id And Credit Card Front And Back. The Passenger Would Not Be Able To Handle This From JFK Because Philippine Airlines Won't Just Take Your Credit Card Over The Phone. They Need The Form. Now I'm Told Their Flight At Lax Will Be Delayed And If AA Will Confirm Him On Their 715p Flight The Man Can Get On The Flight To Manila. They Keep Telling Me Now 2 Hours Later On Hold On The Phone That Their Department Is Coordinating With AA To Get Him On. What A Joke! I Checked And AA Does Not Show Availability On That Flight. In My Years In This Industry Have I Experienced This Type Of Customer Service That Leaves All To Be Desired. I Ask The Faithful To Please Pray That This Situation Is Resolved For This Man. No One Has Called Me From JFK On His Behalf. I Hope they(AA) are Informing Him (and He Understands) What Is Happening And That His Trust In Me Is The Only Positive Thing Happening Right Now. In Short, Be Careful Of Traveling With An Airline That Has No Local Office Or Airport Counter From Where You Are Departing. I'll Give You A Final Update As Information Develops. I was just disconnected from holding as I finished this story. |
No surprise
I have flown on PAL many years because it was the only one in and out intern and domestic for many years. Customers used to call it PAL: Planes Always Late " but now adds "passengers Always Last".
From a 20 year vet of flying Asian airlines. TAN is the rich owner who has ripped off passengers and employees for years - |
