United Airlines customer service?

I am a Mileage Plus member with United. I booked 2 tickets using 50,000 miles. I cannot make the trip. I call the airline greater than 24 hours before departure to cancel. They want to charge me $150 per ticket to put my miles back.

They charged me $20 per ticket to use my miles. The bag charges are insane $25 for the first, $35 for the second and $100 for skis, each direction. A ski trip would cost me $160 each way for each ticket. This is $640 to use the miles I earned for loyal service to this airline.

I do not see how this airline stays in business. I have tried to contact customer service many times. Guess what? I keep getting people in the Philippines no matter what time of the day I call. So much for loyalty.

I would recommend Southwest Airlines to those fortunate to have their service.

Please stop using frequent flyer schemes. They are a scam designed to distort the market.

please explain

I do not know what you mean by frequent flyer schemes. Could you please explain?

I just wanted to use my miles. It was going to cost more to use miles than to purchase a ticket on another airline. Since I could not make the trip, they wanted to charge me to return the miles.

Mileage Plus is a frequent flyer scheme... it is a scam. You would be far better off taking the lowest fare at the time, regardless of airline. They are nothing but a scam.

United Mileage Plus = racketeering disguised by marketing

I've been raped by United time after time, especially when Mileage Plus is involved. Rarely do I have an experience free of headaches or frustration. (Which begs the question: Why do I continue to fly with them?) The last couple of incidents included paying the $150 to get my worthless miles returned, as well as surprise booking fees/call center fees/ticketing fees that showed up on my credit card bill despite having booked online. I began complaining via groubal.com, which actually lights a fire under their ***** because it's so heavily powered by social media. Consider using groubal next time United tries to stick it to ya: http://blabb.in/post/15444676744/what-is-a-groubal
