Rules are rules
I've always understood wedding gowns as being treasured items which, after their use, become keepsakes. So why would you want to risk damage to it by carrying it aboard an airplane?? Even in first class ("FC") you don't get an exclusive right to a closet. In theory it must be shared with all other FC passengers.
If you haven't already left on your trip: Get your gown boxed-up in a crush-proof, watertight box. Then have it shipped to your destination. Make sure the shipping company (DHL, UPS, Fedex) offers a "tracking service." Yes, it will cost a lot. But, it's your wedding. Besides, you may arrived "ruffled," but your gown won't!
Lastly, you DO have a first class ticket, I hope.
