I was flying on the leg from Johannesburg, South Africa, to Tel Aviv, Israel. It was the only direct flight available.
My husband went Turkish Air via Istanbul and had to take a connecting flight. He said it was an absolute pleasure and would definitely go that route again.
I have also heard since, from others, that generally EL AL is a shocking airline with staff that don't actually care at all about their passengers. They never smile and are obviously underpaid for them to hate their jobs so much.
