OH, let's not forget that the lawyer threatened him too. Um, why do that have the lawyer involved in the first place?? I'd have to agree that there's a lot more to this than the OP is telling us.

Nope - First slander is spoken, if it's written, then it's libel. OK, small detail, but it's still not slander/libel unless THEY stated this to someone else, AND that person believed it. Them just telling you only is not slander/libel.
