If a person has a medical condition that causes them to have an odor that is offensive they are supposed to be separated from other passengers. In fact it is even on the Jet Blue website IIRC. Since this happened a year and a half ago things might have changed. But yes, by law, if the odor is due to a legitimate medical condition then they need to be transported but apart from other passengers.

Just being odorous can get you NOT transported, or hosed down.
