It is a rare event, but I am going to side with the airline on this. My daughter lives in the US and regularly flies to the UK as an unaccompanied minor. I wouldn't trust a dog to Delta, but even when she flies on an airline I trust (most recently Virgin Atlantic), I would NEVER leave the airport until the aircraft has departed. Furthermore, I have enrolled her on Unaccompanied minor programmes for AA, BA, Northwest and Virgin. In each case they have required that I remain at the airport until departure as part of the conditions. Frankly, this is a post which reveals bad parenting... having said that, if the Delta agent treated a younger customer like that.. regardless of whether she was on an unaccompanied minor programme or not, she is a first class b... and clearly has taken the Delta anti-passenger attitude to heart. Welcome to the unfriendly skies.
