The early bird special is Southwest manipulating their own so called boarding process. They are the only airline to board like a bus, and they charge a fee of $10 to check in an extra 12 hours earlier than everyone else. Like your complaint says, however, Southwest goes out of order all the time. The few times I have flown Southwest passengers from the C group have jumped ahead of me in the A group and the employees say nothing.

There are far better airlines out there than Southwest. Airlines with assigned seating give you your seat of choice without the headache of making sure you are near a computer 24 hours before departure (or 36 if you want to scam yourself out of $10 [no hidden fees, yeah right]) or if you aren't at the boarding gate at the time of boarding, regardless of what group you are in, you get a center seat.
