I agree. It absolutely sounds like he was 'gunning' for you, as a result of your comment in the terminal. This is abuse of power, and increasingly common in airlines. You should complain to JetBlue and be honest about the circumstances. People like him often do this frequently. If enough passengers complain, we can hope that they will take action.
It is common misperception that blocking egress rules apply only to the emergency row.
