I have had exactly the same experience today, i can buy 5 economy tickets to dubai for £2088 through BA online, so i booked my accomadation, went to use 100,000 air miles and i still have to pay £2376 plus my 100,000 air miles, in short i am paying more for the flight and loosing 100k air miles, its a rip off, what they dont realise (or care about) is that i wont fly with them again, and hopefully i can put as many people off flying with them as i can!
