Thanks for the info. The ticket was not a single ticket but they did check through our luggage because Flybe is a partner. Airlines should make people aware if they book separately they are not responsible if you miss your connecting flight. I never knew this, and I don't recall ever seeing this info when booking. I still may try the certified letter.
