Nothing to do with a party line. Your original post said the weather "was clear“ that night when in fact it was not. As pilot for over 25 years what i'm saying is there are factors that come into play with those weather conditions that you are probably not aware of. I've also seen time and time again that the people that complain the most about weather cancellations are the same people that scream the loudest about airline safety when there is an incident and an aircraft goes off a runway in poor conditions. Everybody toes the "party line"as you say, and says they shouldn't have been flying in those conditions. Safety is a balance between operational performance and good judgment. Trust me, the crews do not like cancellations any more than you do because it messes up our work schedules also, and often requires us to be away from home and our families longer than planned.
