Angry Bully Flight Attendant on US Air 2304

* On Friday, June 8, 2012, I was a passenger on US Air Flight 2304 from GREENVILLE, NC (PGV) 5:20 PM to CHARLOTTE, NC (CLT) 6:34 PM CRJ-200. Shortly after boarding and before I took my seat, I realized I did not have one of my rings and apparently had left it the TSA checkpoint. I took my carryon bag to my seat and went back to check on my jewelry.

When I reached the plane’s door, a male flight attendant stopped me and asked where I was going. I explained I wanted to return to the TSA checkpoint to look for my ring. The flight attendant pointed to the floor and said I could not get off because the plane was being prepared for takeoff. I asked the flight attendant what were my options. He told me I could get off the plane and take another one or I could sit down. Of course, I turned around and went back to my seat.

At no time did the flight attendant express any empathy or speak to me in a respectful manner. He was extremely condescending and made me feel as if I had done something wrong by wanting to check on my misplaced jewelry.

As the flight attendant did the final cabin check, he noticed my purse was not completely under my seat and asked me to properly secure it. I explained that I could not get it under the seat and could not find a place nearby in the overhead bin. In the same condescending tone, the flight attendant glared at me and said in the nastiest tone he could muster: “Oh, I guarantee you I WILL find a place.”

Once again, I felt as though I had done something wrong and felt compelled to tell the flight attendant he had a bad attitude. The flight attendant continued to glare at me and said in a raised voice that he would have the plane turned around, so I could be thrown off for my bad attitude. He then told me that if I didn’t like his attitude, he could provide me with contact information for US Air’s complaint department. I told him I could find it myself. I really believed this guy was a loose cannon and did not engage him in any further dialogue. This was the first time as an adult when I have felt bullied.

The rest of the ride was uneventful. During the flight, the attendant handed me a sheet of paper with his name (Todd D.) and contact information for US Air. I have attached the paper. He also told me the airport had been searched for my ring, and it was not found.

As passengers exited the plane, the flight attendant thanked passengers. I did not acknowledge the attendant as I passed him, and he yelled thank you at me a few times. I continued to feel as though this was another bullying tactic and ignored him.
