Lost a lot of Money-DO NOT USE this airline!
On July 5, 2012 5:30 pm (flight 977) I had a missionary trip from Fort Lauderdale to Peru. I made my reservation online and nowhere during the process of making the reservation was I informed that I could not bring more than one luggage and exceeding 50 pounds. I even called AHEAD OF TIME Spirit directly and expressed to them exactly the amount of luggage’s that I was bringing with me that day (3). To my surprise I drove from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale and when at the counter (airport) the lady told me that she was sorry but I could only take one bag. I told her that this was for a mission trip and the things were for orphans. They did not care at all about my trip or the things inside, they just stand firm saying repeatedly that I could not get on the plane with those luggages.
I did express to her (lady at the counter) that I called the airlines beforehand and that I was 4 hours away from home and that we had worked months in order to get on this flight and get this things to the orphans in Peru. The supervisor was very cold and did not even consider any option and she said “you are going to have to get rid of the things inside the luggage or you cannot get on the plane”.
Spirit airlines did not offer and explanation only because they did not have one. There was no indication of these statements during the purchase of the ticket or on their website, later on I found that there was a note on the help menu (great way to cheat and abuse from consumers). Way to go Spirit! I had to leave $1000 in clothing and $500 in materials outside the airport just there, because nobody even helps me with saving all these precious things for orphans in need. WE LOST EVERYTHING THANKS TO SPIRITY AIRLINES!
At this moment I am requesting a credit for all the lost, frustration and abuse from Spirit airlines. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS AIRLINE TO ANYBODY AND I WILL NEVER GET ABOARD ANY OF HEIR AIRPLANES!
