It all boils down to the fact of you being late. You were not involuntarily bumped, because they didn't need to do that.. They had the ready excuse that you were late. The fact that they might have had to involuntarily bump you had been on time is irrelevant... Especially for someone with the reputation of United. You have no chance of getting compo in these circumstances.
