Name Change Issue - One Letter

Hope you will be able to help. I booked tickets for my mother in February, over the phone with Etihad. Her flight is in September. Once I received the tickets, they had spelt her first name incorrectly; spelling it "Winisred" instead of "Winifred".
I called Etihad. The representative I spoke to told me that this was not a problem, all Etihad phone calls are recorded, this was Etihad Representative error and she would listen to this call to confirm, and then call me back to finalize. This was 10 phone calls ago and countless emails. For whatever reason, I cannot even modify my booking online.
Tonight alone I called three times (as the flights are rapidly approaching) and of the three representatives I spoke to; only 2 out of 3 could find the booking. On all phone calls I was promptly hung up on after my request got a little difficult; after approximately 20 minutes of holding in each case.
Not in any of the phone calls / emails has Etihad suggested that this is my fault or that there would be a charge; I am assuming from this that Etihad accept the responsibility but are not willing to back it up.
I am very disappointed with this level of service; I have been a long time customer of Etihad's, and I fail to understand why it is so difficult to get a response or some action.
